Finally understanding memristors today, but not thanks to this hyperbolic post. The key, reported facts for you EE folks:
  1. DC current flowing through it increases its resistance
  2. DC current flowing through it the opposite way reduces its resistance
  3. Passing alternating current through it lets you measure the current resistance level
Strikes me that the crucial design characteristic will be how quickly the resistance can be varied by DC current. This limit could be like the band gap for memristors and a deal breaker.
